SWIM LESSON DISCIPLINE POLICY AND RULES
(DPR)
1.
You will need to turn in the annual summer liability/registration
form on the first day of class, one for each child.
2. All sections on
liability/registration form must be initialed to take swim lessons.
3. Parents or Grandparents
must bring children to their swim classes. If a parent or grandparent is not
present, the parents must be reachable by phone.
4. If a child is in a swim
diaper, they must wear a swim diaper plus a diaper cover to help prevent leaks. If
poop gets into the pool (by any student, any age, swim diaper or not) there
must be a 24-hour shut down and the filter must be cleaned.
With the exception of the parent/child class – all children must be potty trained.
5. If poop gets into the
pool the parents will be charged for the pool professionals to come clean the
filter (approx. $100). This box must be initialed to swim.
6. Parents must go with
their child to use the bathroom located inside Ms. French’s house. Children,
including siblings, may not take other children in the house. Please close the
door after entering and exiting the house. Please turn off the bathroom light
after use. If you cannot go in with your child, please ask another adult to
take your child to the bathroom.
7. If in the rare
circumstance the swim instructor must cancel class due to weather or unforeseen
circumstances there will be a makeup lesson on the Friday of that week. If an
instructor is sick there will be a substitute teacher in their position to
maintain teacher to student ratios.
8. If your child misses a
session, please be aware that we do not offer makeup sessions for individual
students, however in the case of an emergency resulting in your child missing 50%
or more of the session being missed, Ms. French will work with you to get some
makeup time in the pool.
9. We understand that some children
will cry and be upset at first during their first few visits (this is normal).
Please read the attached flyer on crying at swim lessons, and trust that we
will keep your child safe and do our very best to help them begin to associate
water and swimming with safety and fun.
10. For the safety of all of
our students and for the safety of our instructors we require that our swim
students follow directions and listen to their teachers.
a. If a child is not
listening to the teacher or is not following directions they will be asked to
follow directions and given an explanation as to why the thing they were doing
is unsafe. Not listening to the teacher could cause injury to themselves, others,
and the teacher.
b. After two warnings the
child will be asked to sit out of the pool (on the step) for 5 minutes before
reentering the pool.
c. If they continue to not
follow instructions they will be asked to get out of the pool for the remainder
of that lesson and will be invited to try again the next day.
S
Our purpose is not to punish the child, but to
keep them safe. We will not raise our voices in anger or treat your child disrespectfully, but will be firm when safety is at risk.
11. Parents are welcome to
stay and enjoy the pool area and yard and to make themselves comfortable. Please keep an eye on any other children you
bring with you and respect our yard furniture and home. If you or your child
breaks a chair or table, we will ask you to reimburse us for the cost of its
replacement.
12. We will do our best to
keep the grass clean of doggy doo, but occasionally we miss a pile. Please be
aware of this and if you or your children walk or sit on the grass, check the
ground around you.
13. The pool gate will not be
opened more than 5-10 min early.
14. Food and beverages are
welcome, but not in glass containers, and nowhere near the pool. Please clean up any spills or messes to
reduce problems with insects and ants.
15. We have limited seating,
please don’t use chairs for towel racks for your children or for your purses or
pool bags, we have tables and hooks for such items.
