Instructors

Instruction is under the guidance of Kristen French's WSI Certification.
All instructors are CPR certified.

Kristen French loves to swim!  She learned to swim in her grandpa's backyard pool in southern California from the time she was a baby (see the Pool Legacy page on our site).  She remembers diving for quarters in the deep end and sliding the long mountian slide into the pool.  This love of swimming has stuck with her throughout her life.  Seven years ago she bought this pool, which came with a house, and has loved every minute of it.  Hosting swim parties and even an evening wedding in the backyard have been some of the great joys of having a nice yard with a pool.  Wanting to share her love of swimming, she became certified in the Red Cross's Water Safety Instructor (WSI) program.  She also has her CPR certification.  As a special ed school teacher, Kristen loves kids and thrills when they master a new concept or skill.  Swimming is no exception!  Kristen primarily handles the day-to-day responsibilities of swim lessons including pool maintenance, scheduling, payroll, and overseeing the instruction.  But it is not uncommon for her to join the classes in the pool for some extra instruction or to fill in for an instructor when they are away.

Austin - PICTURE COMING SOON

Austin is returning as a swim instructor and lesson manager for this summer. Austin has taught for French's Swim Lessons in the past and took a few years off while attending school and working (and living out of state for a while). We are super happy to have him back. Austin was in swim team in high school and has been swimming since he was about 3 years old. He is funny and kind, and he has a very positive, comforting, and encouraging manner of teaching.

Trudi is an amazing woman who has found much joy and purpose in her life through teaching others.  She has taught reading intervention, ELL, and now operates and teaches her own preschool.  Trudi has raised 6 daughters, and loves spending time with them and with her grandkids.

Trudi has taught swim for several years and has been a lifeguard.  She is gentle and happy and kids instinctively feel safe with her. We are thrilled to have her in our Swim Lesson Family!

Rocky has been teaching swim lessons off and on for 6 years and he has a great rapport with kids. Rocky learned to swim at the age of 2 and has loved water ever since. With a quick smile and silly jokes, Rocky is able to connect with kids who might otherwise shy away. He provides a balance to our swim team providing gentle encouragement and sincere praise, all with a twist of humor. He has a following of students who love swimming with him and beg him to do tricks off the board.

Taylor is returning to teach swimming with us again this year! She is a high school student who excels not only academically, but also athletically.  As one of the top swimmers on her swim team she has won a lot of awards and has joined her team at district and state championships.

Taylor is the oldest of 3 kids and has a lot of experience helping younger siblings out.  This has taught her patience and responsibility.  We are super happy that she is joining our swim family!

SUBSTITUTE TEACHERS WE LOVE:

Melissa is a mother of three, one of whom has been on swim team for many years.  Her frequent attendance, encouragement, and practices with her daughter have given her experience which helps her in teaching our little swimmers.  She is very understanding and sensitive, but still knows how to push kids to try a little harder and do a little better.  During the school year Melissa is middle school math teacher.  Her bubbly fun personality draws the students in and they enjoy being around her.  Melissa has been a swim teacher with us as well as a substitute swim teacher. This year she intends to take a little break but we are excited to have her continue to fill in for us when we need her!
